Mastercard / Australian Open 2021
The 2021 Australian Open was the first major global sporting event to take place “post” pandemic. However, Australia was still marred in uncertainty, and without a vaccine supply, still liable to be locked down at any given time. We didn't want Mastercard’s sponsorship to go to waste no matter what happened, so our campaign Open the Open did just that: connected audiences to the best of the tournament, whether on ground or at home. Our Virtual Fan innovation saw three Mastercard-branded humanoids soaking up the best of the action from the court, commentary box and training, beaming it back to audiences on Priceless.com, as well as allowing people to experience the tennis from their view. AO2021 saw a 10% increase in attribution of Priceless to Mastercard, and was our most liked campaign ever.
