2021 in Australia saw a year of our most severe Covid lockdowns, bitter state rivalries, and uncertainty as our vaccine rollout stalled. As the first major event in the country’s calendar for 2022, the Australian Open was a symbol of hope, joy, optimism, and returning to ‘normal’. In the sixth year of their sponsorship, Mastercard wanted to capitalise on this with a simple message of connection and positivity: Love All. The campaign demonstrated the role of the brand in all of the moments Aussies love about a summer of tennis, saw engagement 5x above industry benchmarks, and pulled off an impressive B2C and B2B in-person campaign despite ongoing Covid restrictions.
